Choosing curriculum was originally a challenge. We wanted to choose programs that were high quality, use effective teaching methods, were engaging for the student and user friendly for parents and teachers. Affordability was also considered. Not an easy task, but we are happy with what we have landed on and hope that it can be satisfactory for our families.
We will be using Notgrass History for our social studies classes again this year. It is a one-year course that is centered in God's Word and makes learning exciting for homeschooling students and parents. Students may follow along with the lessons in their own personal workbook, which will be great for exhibiting to their evaluators at the end of the year.
We will be using Apologia’s award winning science series. This series takes an “immersion approach,” emphasizing depth over breadth through the use of information, activities, experiments, and other avenues to study each topic. This type of learning helps students develop a sense of wonder and appreciation. There is a workbook that can be used for students to enhance their learning and use for their portfolios.
We don’t have a set curriculum for art and music. Both courses will incorporate an element of artist or composer study and enjoyable hands on art and music activities.
