When making decisions about schooling options outside of public school, there are only two choices: homeschool and private Christian school. Most families choose homeschooling as a way to keep their children close, rather than sending them away five days a week, and allowing family to be the place that nurtures their love of learning. Children thrive in social environments, and benefit from time spent with peers, gaining valuable insight from learning from adults outside the family.
After hearing about hybrid homeschooling, we decided to explore it further. Unfortunately, there wasn't a hybrid option in our area. So, perhaps a little boldly, we decided to try and create one.
We formed a team of other homeschooling parents, and together, we began working toward making this vision a reality for our community. Please read on to learn more!
-The Harmony Hybrid Board
Hybrid learning or hybrid homeschool refers to a program that combine the structure of a classroom and the flexibility of homeschooling. In the case of Harmony Center for Hybrid Learning, we offer a drop off program one day a week. It will consist of classroom learning for grades K-5th. We will have a time scheduled for students to eat lunch and enjoy a structured recess period. Classroom instruction would cover science, social studies, art, music and a quarterly rotating theme class.
Parents will be responsible for covering language arts and math on their own schedule.
